SYKES Announces 450 Permanent Positions in Costa Rica

San José, Costa Rica. June 17, 2020. Starting this month, SYKES will offer 450 permanent technical support positions to applicants with advanced, intermediate, or basic knowledge of Cisco networks, operating systems, and programming. The company will be hiring from June through September. During the health crisis due to COVID-19, most positions will be work from home.

The announcement was made this morning at the Presidential House, in the presence of Carlos Alvarado, the President of the Republic, as well as Geannina Dinarte, the Minister of Labor and Social Security (MTSS); Dyalá Jiménez, the Minister of Foreign Trade (COMEX); Eric Scharf, the Chairman of the Board of CINDE; and Alejandro Arciniegas, the General Manager of SYKES.

In addition to technological knowledge, applicants must demonstrate an English level equal to or greater than 85%. They must apply through the company’s website at, where they will upload their résumé and schedule any corresponding tests and interviews.

During the course of the announcement, the General Manager of SYKES explained that each new hire will receive a welcome bonus and additionally, the company will extend scholarships to new employees, so that they may take courses from the SYKES Tech Academy to obtain professional certifications in areas such as networks, software development, and cybersecurity.

In addition, he thanked the company for its important role in creating spaces where employees can grow professionally and enhance their human talent.

Arciniegas confirmed the company’s commitment to generating quality jobs and developing human talent, to reinforce sustainability in operations and the strengthening of the industry. He confirmed that SYKES will continue to make great efforts to create protocols that guarantee the safety of its employees, as well as all those interested in joining the larger SYKES family.

Dyalá Jiménez, Minister of Foreign Trade, commented that in recent years, Costa Rica has shown remarkable performance in the export of services, displaying between 2012 and 2019 an upward trend in growth, for an annual average of 6.3%. "This contributes not only to the diversification of our exportable offer but positions Costa Rica as a country more resilient to the ups and downs of the world economy," she added.

“For this reason, today we celebrate this news from SYKES, which will generate 450 formal employment opportunities for Costa Ricans and, in addition, will grant scholarships to the SYKES Academy for employees and potential new hires, with the aim of continuing to develop and strengthen our workforce skills and knowledge. For applicants who meet the requirements for technical expertise but not the English level, the company will also offer admission to the SYKES Tech Academy. The goal is to improve, over short cycles of one to two months, the applicants’ language skills sufficient to secure an offer of employment.
