Qorvo Expands in Costa Rica with Telecom Value-Added Manufacturing

• Qorvo provides technologies and RF solutions for mobile, infrastructure, and applications of the aerospace industry.
• The company currently has 280 employees and plans to hire 70 more.

San José, February 24th, 2020. Qorvo, a radio frequency technology company, will expand its Costa Rican operations to manufacture high-tech pieces for the telecommunications industry.

Qorvo is a leading provider of technologies and RF solutions for mobile phones, infrastructure (Wi-Fi, IoT) and aerospace industry applications. Its Costa Rican site is currently located in Metropolitan Free Zone, Heredia.

The company has invested US$ 90 million since establishing in Costa Rica in 1996. Once again, the company has committed to expanding its business in the country thanks to its qualified human talent, strategic location, and robust commercial platform.

Duayner Salas, Vice Minister of Foreign Trade, said: “Qorvo’s new expansion is a strategic investment for the country. It will promote the manufacturing of high-tech telecommunications segments. The decision also entails enormous potential to increase productive linkages, alliances with the national academic sector and, of course, occupy more sophisticated processes within the Global Value Chains. It fills us with great pride and satisfaction to confirm their trust in our country.”

Gerardo Chaves, general manager of Qorvo Costa Rica, added: “We are very excited about the expansion and modernization plans by acquiring advanced microelectronics assembly lines. We can ensure a stable operation that generates sources of quality employment for many Costa Ricans thanks to different factors. For example, the availability of qualified personnel, the capacity, and experience developed over 20 years of continuous work in Costa Rica, and the support we have received from institutions such as CINDE, Comex, and Procomer.”

Jorge Sequeira, Managing Director at the Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency (CINDE), remarked: “CINDE’s data shows that the manufacturing sector represented 51% of Costa Rica’s 2018 FDI investments. Qorvo operates locally since 1996 and, thanks to the Costa Rican human talent, its operations have evolved, allowing it to manufacture equipment with greater added value for the telecommunications area. That capacity for innovation has also allowed almost 50 other manufacturing companies to operate competitively from Costa Rica, increasing almost twice the number of companies installed since 2000.”

The company will hire engineers, technicians, and operators to complement the available positions. Those interested in applying can send their resume to the address RecursoshumanosCR@qorvo.com.
