Johnson Controls Aims for Growth in the Region with the Opening of its New Facility in Costa Rica

San Jose, Costa Rica, Dec. 14, 2017 - Johnson Controls, a leader in creating safer, more comfortable and sustainable world is celebrating the inauguration of its first Sales Support Center of Excellence in San Jose. This new facility will allow Johnson Controls to better serve its customers in the buildings market by offering consulting engineering in electrical design, mechanical design, telecommunications design, sustainability services, andamp; project management services during the engineering and construction process of buildings to a full range of clients.

The geographic location offers Johnson Controls a unique position in the region to promote specialized projects to a full range of clients, combining technology with insights to build purposeful solutions that help the world progress, meeting today’s needs and shaping better tomorrows.

The Minister of Foreign Trade, Alexander Mora, commented that: “Johnson Controls has positioned worldwide as a leader in innovation, with the creation of intelligent, sustainable and integrated buildings. The company has revolutionized the industry with the objective to develop intelligent cities and communities. Until now, it has clients from more than 150 countries, which makes us proud to have been chosen as the base of its first Sales Support Center of Excellence, which will give high value-added services and sophistication to challenging markets such as the Americas. Choosing Costa Rica is not a coincidence. More than thirty years ago, our country decided to transform its productive model and to work on generate the conditions, to be a country that attracts and embraces inversion of quality. Because of this strategy, we converted into a nation with renown trajectory as a favorable destination to receive investment, capable of attracting and welcoming projects such as Johnson Controls. From the Central Government, we will continue to work on attract and to hold back inversion that generates quality jobs for our citizens, and that it lets Costa Rica continue to diversify its economy and position it in more sophisticated global value links.”

The Managing Director from CINDE, Jorge Sequeira, mentioned: “Today the company exports services from Costa Rica to the Americas, Asia and Europe, that contribute to the exportations of national services. Data from CINDE, based upon the Central Bank, show that by the end of 2016, the exportations of services, excluding tourism, added US$4.813 million. We are sure that, thanks to the valuable support from Costa Ricans, Johnson Controls will consolidate even more its businesses from Costa Rica.”

The investment and development plan for the 2020 for the Sales Support Center of Excellence is to double the capacity of projects, and operate under the Free Trade Zone Regime in Costa Rica in the short term. This projects offer a wide range of professional opportunities for current employees as well the new one, with the purpose to increase its position in the services market
