Cognizant Costa Rica Celebrates a Decade of Successful Operations

San José, January 4, 2024. Cognizant Technologies recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of its arrival in Costa Rica. The company, which focuses on providing professional consulting and technology services, projects ambitious growth during 2024 for its local operations.

Since its arrival in the country a decade ago, Cognizant Costa Rica has experienced steady growth, becoming a vital part of the company's strategy in the region. Diego Quiros, Director of Cognizant Costa Rica, highlighted the key factors that have contributed to this success: "Access to exceptionally talented professionals, the positive perception of the country's image among our clients, and the valuable support of expert advisors, such as CINDE and the Zona Franca América (AFZ) business park, have allowed us to expand our range of services and clients."

Indeed, Marianela Urgellés, the Managing Director of CINDE, one of Cognizant's strategic partners in Costa Rica, commented: "We are pleased to have worked with Cognizant over the last 10 years, in establishing and developing their operations in Costa Rica. We have worked closely to provide them with any necessary consulting services and support, especially in the search and acquisition of multilingual talent. We are proud to see how these efforts now translate into 400 effective jobs for professionals with skills in customer service and proficiency in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, as well as software developers and testers, buyers, supply chain specialists, and recruitment."

Over the past decade, Cognizant has been dedicated to diversifying its portfolio of offered services, by relying on contributions from Costa Rican talent to meet demands of markets as challenging as the United States.

The company, which initially established its presence in the country via a contact and customer service center, has evolved towards providing more specialized functions, including software development and maintenance, technical support, recruitment, purchasing, and more recently, the supply chain, addressing aspects such as inventory management and order tracking.

These services are distributed across its four main verticals: Insurance, Health, Communications and Media, and the Retail and Technology Market.

Globally, the company specializes in digitizing products, services, and customer experiences; automating business processes; and modernizing technological infrastructures. This strategic focus has positioned Cognizant Costa Rica as a key player in digital transformation, contributing not only to the company’s growth but also to strengthening Costa Rica as a prominent technological hub in Latin America.
