Brenntag Selects Costa Rica for (Finance) Shared Services Center

  • The center will house select financial services for Brenntag's Americas operations.
  •  The multinational will hire local personnel in the accounting and financial areas in course of 2024.
San Jose, Costa Rica, March 1, 2024. Brenntag, the global market leader in chemical and ingredients distribution, has chosen Costa Rica for its (Finance) Shared Services Center to provide financial and accounting support for its Americas operations.

The Germany-based multinational company has been operating in Costa Rica since 1978. The Shared Services Center (SSC) will maintain its operations in Heredia, north of the capital of San Jose.

“We are very proud to be inaugurating our Americas Shared Services Center in Latin America. We’ve chosen Costa Rica for its strategic geographical location and quality human and professional capital. Our arrival to this country is the result of a multi-year plan launched to start a business center to support our regional operations in the Americas,” commented Mónica González, Sr. Human Resources Manager, Brenntag Business Services.

This milestone was further boosted alongside CINDE, which has served as a key partner in guiding Brenntag's SSC development in Costa Rica, shaping it into a multifunctional business hub that aligns with the evolving trend of centers of excellence. CINDE's services include analysis and support for investors during their establishment processes, as well as supporting the positioning of companies to attract personnel.

CINDE Managing Director Marianela Urgellés noted, for her part, “Brenntag’s choice of our country is highly relevant for us because we have become their customer service gateway in such an important market as the Americas.

The company’s SSC installation is also evidence of the work being done to strengthen diversification of the sources of foreign investment in Costa Rica and it shows how a German company has set its sights on the capacities of our
talent to serve their Americas market in financial and accounting services.

“To date, CINDE has helped to bring in ten German companies in industries such as manufacturing, life sciences and services. This last sector is precisely the one Brenntag’s operations will be strengthening with the hiring of people in areas such as accounts payable and finance,” she added.
