Bimbo Global Services in Costa Rica Evolves to a Multifunctional Hub for North America

  • The Shared Services Center will increase its Finance and Accounting support, add Procurement and HR Recruiting Services for North America.
  • The Company is hiring 50 more positions throughout the remainder of 2021.
San José, Costa Rica. September 20th, 2021. Grupo Bimbo, the world’s largest baking company and an important player in snacking, is expanding its services in Costa Rica. Bimbo Global Services will become a multifunctional hub by increasing its Finance and Accounting support footprint and migrating new services for Procurement and HR Recruiting Services, among other areas.

Established in 2015, Bimbo Global Services provides support to several internal financial processes that support Grupo Bimbo’s English-speaking Business Units – primarily Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom.

Bimbo Global Services will hire more than 50 positions by the end of this year and will reach a total population of 220 associates. This is in addition to the 1,000+ associates in Costa Rica who bake, sell, and deliver its products across the country.

According to Bimbo, Costa Rica has positioned itself as a dynamic hub for the company’s global shared services due to various reasons. For example, the expertise and knowledge in financial systems and processes, their associates’ multilingualism (English and French) and commitment to Grupo Bimbo’s philosophy of creating a sustainable, highly productive and a deeply humane company.

“I am proud to announce that Bimbo Global Services in Costa Rica is ready to be transformed into a multifunctional hub for North America, evolving towards becoming a strategic Center of Excellence. Bimbo Global Services’ evolution has been driven mainly by the diverse talent of our associates and our agility to embrace continuous improvement and innovation,” affirmed Jazmín Alvarado González, Vice President of Bimbo Global Services in Costa Rica.

Andrés Valenciano, the Minister of Foreign Trade, stated, “Thanks to the quality of our country's human talent, companies continue to trust in Costa Rica as their partner in business consolidation. We are very enthusiastic about Bimbo's recently announced decision, which will grant 50 Costa Ricans the opportunity to now provide logistical and financial support to a company that has trusted in Costa Rica since 2015 and already has around 175 local employees. We celebrate the growth of companies like Bimbo that, through their Shared Services Center, demonstrate their high levels of productivity, adoption of sustainable practices for business development, and a competitive contribution to our country's economy."

Jorge Sequeira, Managing Director at CINDE, also added, “The growth of Grupo Bimbo's Service Center in Costa Rica comes on the heels of its evolving processes toward greater sophistication and, therefore, greater added value for its operations – and a reflection of Costa Rican human talent's high potential and abilities. As further proof of this, in Latin America, Costa Rica leads exports of knowledge-intensive services, as these represent 7.6% of gross domestic product compared to other nations whose percentages are between about 1.3% and 3%.”

According to Alvarado González, “As a service-oriented team, we need positive, proactive and responsive individuals who are committed to delivering a great customer experience. We appreciate the contributions of all associates and want team players who will help us continuously improve our business and culture. The ability to speak English and French is also preferred.”
