San José, Costa Rica, July 22, 2014 – Bacardi today announced plans to hire a significant number of employees for a new shared services center to be based in Costa Rica. The facility, which will be based in the canton of Escazú in the province of San José, will perform a variety of professional and technical financial support functions for the world’s largest privately held spirits company.
“These are great opportunities for the highly trained and skilled employee base in Costa Rica to join us in building on the more than 150 years of passion and excellence behind everything we do,” said Kevin McNamara, Vice President and Corporate Controller for family-owned Bacardi.
The new opportunities opening with the company include accounting, supervisory and financial positions. Interviewing is underway to fill key positions within the new shared services center, and the San Jose location is expected to begin operating as of September 1, 2014. The location was chosen because of the region’s highly trained employee base as related to shared services expertise.
“Once again, we have successfully captured the investment of an important company, thanks to the specialized talent of Costa Ricans, the main element that differentiates us,” said Alexander Mora, Foreign Trade Minister of Costa Rica. “This announcement reaffirms the growing importance of the service sector in Costa Rica, which today directly employs more than 46,000 people.”
