384 English scholarship students completed their internship in multinational companies

Close to 30% of the students from technical high-schools are hired once they complete their internships by the same companies.
Students belong to the sixth generation of the program promoted by CINDE.

San Jose, Costa Rica, December 17th, 2015. The scholarship program for students in technical high-schools, Tools for Success +, promoted by the Costa Rican investment promotion agency (CINDE), recently succeeded in assisting 384 scholarship students to finish their internships in multinational companies.

The program grants scholarships to outstanding students that wish to learn a second language and, therefore, complement their specialization developed during high-school.

The scholarships are priced at US$1.250, this includes materials and lessons. The amount is paid voluntarily by multinational companies established in the country.

To date, these are the donating companies: Accenture, Alimentos Prosalud, Amazon, Arias y Muñoz, Bridgestone/Firestone, Citi, Convergys, Cognizant, CSS Corp., Grupo Cuestamoras, Grupo Garnier, Dole, Emerson, Fundación Monge, Hologic, HP, IBM, L3, McKinsey, Pandamp;G, St. Jude, Teckniplex, Teleperformance, The Results Group, Thomson Reuters, Western Union.

Vanessa Gibson, Director of Corporate Development and Investment Climate of CINDE, stated “This group of youngsters that completed their internship today have more tools to face an increasingly competitive job market. CINDE seeks through this and other initiatives, to contribute to the continuous improvement of the Costa Rican human talent in order to have a competitive resource that continues to attract more multinational companies to the country. From CINDE, we thank all the companies that have provided scholarships for this program from CINDE and hope that in coming years more and more companies will join this initiative”.

Gibson explained that students received a total of 4 hours of English lessons per week, during 16 months, which allowed them to improve their skills in a second language.

90% of the scholarship students did their professional internship in donating companies. It is estimated that about 30% are hired in the same Company once they complete their internship. The students that complete this scholarship and internship program have a great potential to be hired and build a career in the multinational companies established in the country.
