Sachs Chemical chooses Costa Rica to establish operations center in Central America

• Founded in 1986 in Puerto Rico, it arrives to Costa Rica to support the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors.
• The 1,900 square meters distribution center is in The Green Park Free Zone, in Alajuela.

Alajuela, Costa Rica. May 15, 2019. Recognized as a leading chemical distributor serving the Puerto Rico and Caribbean markets, Sachs Chemical, Inc. chose Costa Rica to become its distribution center in Central America with an investment over US$2,7 million.

Founded in 1986, the company grew from 3 collaborators to more than 40 specialists, in two operation plants of 8,400 square meters in Caguas and Carolina, in Puerto Rico. In Costa Rica, it currently has 4 collaborators working at the distribution center of 1,900 square meters located in The Green Park Free Zone, in Alajuela.

“We identified Costa Rica’s exponential growth in different industries, and we found that there was a great need that we can satisfy, by providing value added to companies within the Free Zones, thanks to our different services and high-quality products,” explained Fernando Ortega, Sachs Chemical’s President.

The company is recognized for distributing chemicals to pharmaceutical companies and medical device manufacturing. These sectors have strict regulations; therefore, having a company like Sachs Chemical in the country strengthens the supply chain ecosystem and promotes new linkages with other industries that require this type of products.
“Once more, a highly important company related to the medical device sector chooses Costa Rica to establish, in this case, its chemical distribution center. The Government of Costa Rica celebrates this announcement, which also challenges us to continue strengthening our investment climate to guarantee better competitiveness conditions. We congratulate Sachs Chemical and send our best wishes!” said Dyalá Jiménez, Minister of Foreign Trade.

For his part, Jorge Sequeira, Managing Director at the Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency (CINDE), said: “Sachs Chemical’s presence in Costa Rica promotes a more efficient supply chain by reducing costs and delivery time of the chemical products. This strengthens the medical device manufacturing, which is the main exports sector of the country. Last year, it represented 29% of Costa Rica’s goods exports with US$3,247 million sales. This was 19% above 2017’s.”

The company plans to hire more personnel for the center and customer service during this and the following year. Those interested in applying can send an email to: resumes@sachschemical.com
