Swarovski opens Global Business Services center in Costa Rica and is looking for well-educated talents

May 30th 2018, San José – Swarovski, leading manufacturer of precision cut crystal since 1895 and a world-renowned brand that adds sparkle to everything from jewelry, watches, fashion accessories to couture fashion and state-of-the-art lighting technology, officially opened a business services center in San José, Costa Rica, end of May 2018. The new location will host the company’s Global Business Services (GBS) center in the Americas which will be built up gradually over the next years and in line with the company’s values.

The modern office has been officially opened on May 30th at a festive gathering. Currently, there are close to 30 people working in Swarovski’s Global Business Services spoke in San José. It will be gradually expanded during the next years. The establishment of Swarovski´s Global Business Services in San José was announced by the company in October 2017. The opening of the company’s GBS center in the Americas is part of a global initiative to ensure that the Finance andamp; Administration function stays a high performing partner, positioned to support Swarovski’s ongoing success. As part of this initiative, selected activities of Swarovski’s Finance andamp; Administration function that require a certain proximity to the American markets and teams will be bundled in Costa Rica.

The Vice-president of the Republic of Costa Rica, Epsy Campbell, said: “Swarovski’s Global Business Services center has established in Costa Rica thanks to our commercial platform, our investment climate and, overall, our human talent. We appreciate Swarovski’s trust in our country, and with no doubt, we will continue to improve our competitive advantages to stay as a strategic ally for its operation developing, as well as strengthening the pillars that make Costa Rica an ideal location for complex and high value-added operations.”

As a part of the services sector, Swarovski now joins a selected group of companies with innovative and sophisticated activities in the country. This positions Costa Rica in advanced areas of high-added value services. We congratulate Swarovski for its new project and for trusting our country.”

Jorge Sequeira, Managing Director of CINDE, added: “Swarovski’s GBS will bring more added value to the Costa Rican services sector operation and its exports. During 2017, the services exports represented 46% of the total services exports of the country, almost twice the average of the OCDE members (27%).”
