Press Release

Hewlett Packard Enterprise Will Hire 120 More Workers for Supply Chain and R&D

AUGUST 24th 2018

•Company’s payroll reaches 1.085 employees and 300 are outsourced.
•It also celebrates 15 years of being established in Costa Rica and formally operates as HPE.

Heredia, Costa Rica. August 24th, 2018. Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) continues its expansion in Costa Rica. Today, the company celebrated the grand opening of its new offices located in America Free Zone, where all its 7 floors were remodeled with a total investment of US$11 million.  This will increase its payroll with 120 more positions during this and the following year.

The new job positions will bring support to the Supply Chain and Research and Development (R&D) processes; therefore, the company is looking for professionals from IT Engineering, Industrial and Electric Engineering and Computer Sciences. English proficiency is a must, and other job positions will require a third language skill.

Among the main duties these new positions require are: designing and verifying integrated circuits of computer network equipment, developing the firmware that allows the operating system to interact with them, testing network protocols for the company's products and planning the needs and requirements of its global production.

The Minister of Foreign Trade, Dyalá Jiménez, said: “The services sector shows us a particular dynamism, registering a record in 2017’s exports of US$9.020 million, which is 3.5% higher than 2016. Hewlett Packard Enterprise is a good example of this sector; betting on Costa Rica and its human talent and opening growth possibilities. Throughout these years, HPE has taught us about excellence, sustainability and innovation. I’m sure that we will continue learning from them and being allies in their projects, allowing us to keep growing as a country.”

Meanwhile, the Minister of Science, Technology and Telecommunications, Luis Adrián Salazar, commented: "We celebrate the opening of HPE’s new offices in Costa Rica.

Innovation is part of the company’s DNA and Costa Rica’s human talent is part of that, which allows us to grow in a continuous process of added value co-creation. We believe that the local talent must take advantage of the new digital economy in a very effective way."

The new 120 job positions will be part of HPE’s 1,085 collaborators and other 300 indirect jobs. 88% of the workers are between 20 and 40 years old, and 4 of each 10 are women.
From Costa Rica, HPE delivers services in Finances, Supply Chain, R&D, and Point Next. The company has external and internal clients worldwide, such as: USA, Asia, Africa and Europe.

"Costa Rica’s human talent has become a key element for HPE’s strategy. From here, we work in developing new products and services, allowing the company to advance one foot ahead in the sector", said Antonio Collantes, Site Leader of Hewlett Packard Enterprise Costa Rica.

Jorge Sequeira, Managing Director at the Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency (CINDE), added: “We are pleased that a prestigious company like HPE found in Costa Rica the opportunity to continue growing in high value-added areas, such as R&D or Supply Chain. The company’s reinvestment represents a vote of trust to Costa Rica’s human talent and a solid contribution to the investment flows received by the local economy. During 2014-2017, 70% of the Free Trade Zone Regime investments were provided from re-investment, according to the Central Bank.”

HPE celebrates this announcement during its 15th anniversary of being established in the country. 3 years ago, the company started a transformation process, creating 4 independent companies, being Hewlett Packard Enterprise one them.
