Viant Will Expand its Costa Rica Manufacturing Facility and Expects to Create 500 New Job Positions

San José, Costa Rica. October 31st. Viant, a leading global services provider to the medical device industry, headquartered in the United States, has begun a major expansion of its medical device manufacturing facility in Heredia, Costa Rica. For the second consecutive year, the company is announcing growth due to strong performance and business development within the country.

Viant specializes in molding, extrusion and assembly of complex interventional, surgical and other medical devices. The facility will grow from four buildings to seven, with a 43% increase in footprint for a total of more than 250,000 square feet. 

According to Viant CEO Alton Shader, the expansion had been proactively planned to put Viant in a strong position to win new business, and the strategy has paid off with several major new programs. “We were confident that prospective customers who visited our Costa Rica site would see that Viant is an ideal partner for large, complex programs,” Shader said. “We have the network of facilities, the capabilities, the experienced people, the customer-focused culture and the capital to fuel growth.”

The company expects new manufacturing and warehouse buildings to be in use by November 2022 with an additional manufacturing building opening March 2023.
The Minister of Foreign Trade, Manuel Tovar, said: "The medical device industry has allowed Costa Rica to stand out as a leader in quality, efficiency, experience and productive innovation. Today we have excellent news from Viant, the expansion of its operations for the second consecutive year, which represents a 43% increase in its total space and which will lead to the creation of 500 positions by mid-2023. Viant´s decision demonstrates that Costa Rica is capable of attracting viable investments from by leading companies in sophisticated processes and reaffirms that we are the ideal location for the life sciences sector.”
