Refinitiv Opens Facilities in Costa Rica and Adds 50 Job Positions
• The company currently has 70 employees in the country
• The reason to chose Costa Rica is due to the quality of the country’s human resource in the financial field
San José, Costa Rica. October 21st, 2019. Refinitiv, a leading global provider of financial data and infrastructure which delivers data, insight and analytics to the financial community, opened its offices on Monday. The company plans to expand its operations in the short term, with 50 additional positions.
The company has two departments in the country, including Operations and Finance andamp; Accounting. Currently, Refinitiv is hiring personnel for the Operations area, which is responsible for collecting, validating and adding value to financial information. Their footprint in Costa Rica includes equipment such as assessed price services, order management, credit and payroll collections, among others.
The Vice Minister of Foreign Trade, Duayner Salas, said: “Refinitiv’s establishment is an example of how Costa Rica has become a strategic place for business operations, especially in the services sector. Between 2000 and 2018, more than 64 thousand jobs have been created in our country thanks to 172 investment projects of multinational companies. We thank Refinitiv for trusting Costa Rica and hope it continues to grow in our country.”
Bolívar Rojas, general manager of Refinitiv in Costa Rica, said that the Costa Rican specialized talent and the company’s investment has allowed the operation to grow to about 70 employees, and plans to expand even more in upcoming months.
“In Refinitiv Costa Rica we use our data and methodologies, the same applied in the main financial centers of the world, to provide solutions to institutional investors. This speaks well about the capabilities and talent of our employees, and how the country has positioned itself to attract high value-added investments,” explained Rojas.
Another aspect that influenced the country's choice as the company's operations center was the political, social and economic stability, as well as the time zone, which allows the Costa Rica site to support the company's operations in the United States and Latin America.
The Managing General of CINDE, Jorge Sequeira Picado, added: “Refinitiv is part of the Costa Rican knowledge services ecosystem which, in 2018, generated more than 3,100 jobs. We are proud that Refinitiv relies on the country to consolidate its business strategy, recognizing the quality of our human talent in increasingly necessary processes in the knowledge economy, such as data analytics and their leverage to seek better solutions to customers”.
According to Rojas, the company seeks for professionals in finance, economics and business administration with strong analytical skills, critical thinking and great interest in capital markets.
