Costa Rica Strengthens Its Position as a Clinical Biometrics Hub with Intego Clinical's Expansion
- The biometrics firm serving Fortune 500 pharmaceutical clients doubles down on Costa Rican talent in mathematics, statistics, and life sciences.
San José, Costa Rica, April 21. Intego Clinical, the clinical research division of Intego Group, a global clinical research consulting firm, announced it is accelerating its growth plan in Costa Rica. The move reinforces the country's position as a strategic platform for biometrics analytics services supporting clinical trials for Fortune 500 pharmaceutical clients.
"The growing specialization of Costa Rican talent in data analytics and life sciences continues to position the country as a strategic base for advanced clinical research – and that is a key driver of the company's current and future growth. Our continued investment in Costa Rica reflects a clear operational rationale: strengthening Intego's footprint across the Americas and enabling full time-zone coverage for our biometrics services," said Sergey Glushakov, CEO of Intego Group.
Intego Clinical is positioned as a top-tier biometrics partner – or A-tier, in industry terms – for
pharmaceutical and biotech companies looking to consolidate operations with fewer, but more reliable and specialized, outsourcing partners. The company, which established its Costa Rican operations in 2024, also has a presence in the United States, Poland, Ukraine, Armenia, and Romania.
From
Costa Rica, the company delivers statistical programming services, a highly specialized function within its value chain. These operations have been bolstered by key factors such as the country's geographic location and, above all, its quality education system and
skilled talent pool.
"As companies like Intego expand their presence in the country, a multiplier effect takes hold – knowledge transfer becomes more efficient and scalable. This growth confirms the broader trend toward increasingly sophisticated foreign direct investment in Costa Rica, as seen throughout 2025. Intego will triple its current team of professionals in roles that are critical to regulated clinical data management," said Ana María Romero, Investment Advisory Manager at CINDE.
The decision comes at a time of strong momentum for the contract research organization (CRO) industry. The global CRO services market, valued at approximately US$99.9 billion in 2026, is growing at a compound annual rate of nearly 9% and is projected to exceed US$199 billion by 2034, according to
Fortune Business Insights.
For now, statistical programming will be the only service delivered from Costa Rica, although the company does not rule out expanding additional biometrics service lines in the future, such as data management, biostatistics, data science, and others.
Career Opportunities
Open positions are targeted at professionals and final-year students in fields such as Actuarial Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, Biology, and Life Sciences, with a minimum English proficiency level of B2. No prior pharmaceutical industry experience is required: all junior talent enters a three-month paid training program to acquire the skills needed to perform as a statistical programmer.
In Costa Rica, the company maintains an active partnership with the School of Mathematics and the School of Statistics at the University of Costa Rica (UCR), through which it introduces students to the field of clinical biometrics and provides training in programming languages such as SAS and R.
