Costa Rica Becomes the 38th Member of the OECD

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) announced today that Costa Rica is officially now the 38th member.

It is also now the fourth Latin American country to belong to this group that conglomerates 80% of the world’s gross domestic product (GDP) and 60% of international trade.

Ángel Gurría, Secretary-General of the organization said: “We are delighted to welcome Costa Rica into the OECD family at a time when multilateralism is more important than ever. As the 38th Member of this Organisation - and the 4th Latin American country - Costa Rica will no doubt represent a new beacon for the OECD in Latin America.”

For his part, President Carlos Alvaro affirmed that “We will work on high-standard public policy for the benefit of all of Costa Rica.”

Costa Rica’s membership will bring along important benefits to foreign direct investment. Learn more here: https://bit.ly/2SmUvAm
