Wind River Costa Rica Expands on Cloud and AI Services

  • The company recently introduced Wind River Studio, a cloud-native platform for mission-critical intelligent systems.
  • Costa Rica’s headcount will grow 20% throughout the remainder of 2021.
San José, Costa Rica. July 5, 2021. Wind River®, a global leader in delivering software for intelligent systems, announced that it continues to expand its services from Costa Rica to the world, specifically, in cloud and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Therefore, it will increase its headcount 20% throughout the remainder of 2021. Since establishing its presence in the region in 2018, the company’s footprint has seen triple digit growth.

The company recently introduced Wind River Studio, a cloud-native platform for the development, deployment, operations, and servicing of mission-critical intelligent systems at the edge where security, safety, and reliability are required. With this new product, Wind River’s presence in Costa Rica has seen accelerated growth as it expands its focus in areas such as cloud and AI.

“In order to thrive in a digital- and AI-first world, companies are accelerating their digital transformation plans from years to months. Wind River is committed to realizing the digital future of our customers across the industries we serve,” said Kevin Dallas, Wind River president and CEO.

He added: “Wind River Studio is the first and only of its kind to deliver one unified environment for mission-critical intelligent systems across the full product lifecycle. This new platform offers dramatic improvements in productivity, agility, and time-to-market, with seamless technology integration that includes far edge cloud compute, data analytics, system level security, 5G, and AI/ML.”

Studio cloud-native infrastructure software and analytics capabilities address service providers’ complex needs surrounding deployment and management of a physically distributed ultra-low latency, cloud-native infrastructure. These technologies are deployed in Verizon’s 5G network and enabled the world’s first end-to-end fully virtualized 5G data session.

Andrés Valenciano, Minister of Foreign Trade, stated, “Costa Rica has become a key hub for innovation and technology companies, such as Wind River. Since its establishment in the country in 2018, the company has seen continued growth, demonstrating its commitment to the region. This expansion is also a clear example of how the technology sector continues to grow proving to be a critical component of the Costa Rican economy. We are gratified that Wind River has found in Costa Rica an important ally for its business."

Jorge Sequeira, Managing Director of CINDE, commented, “Technology has helped Costa Rica join an industry that moves $5.2 trillion throughout the world. Wind River's growth in the region will allow even more Costa Rican talent to contribute to areas and megatrends such as cloud computing, data analytics, and AI, further advancing our country into the knowledge economy that will set the standard for new business solutions."

Dallas added, “Wind River has built a strong foundation in Costa Rica with world-class technical talent, and as we further evolve our Studio offering, we’re eager to drive continued growth in a region with such a highly skilled talent pool.”
