AUGUST 16th 2017

•The company already employs 5000 collaborators in the country and expects to reach 7500 by the end of 2017.
•As a main requirement, applicants must master a second language.

San Jose,  August 16th, 2017.  Amazon Support Services Costa Rica announced today that they expect to hire during the rest of the year, 2500 people who master a second language like English, Portugese, Italian and French.

Other than customer service, Amazon offers administrative positions, as well as human resources, finance, research and fraud, and management positions.

“We celebrate the opening of 2500 jobs Amazon is doing during this 2017. This is a result of the effort done by Costa Rica to strengthen the competitivity conditions, thanks to a close alliance with the productive and business sectors. This makes us happy because foreign investment strengthens and allows the development of linkages that generate work and well-being”, said Luis Guillermo Solís Rivera, President of the Republic.

“Costa Rica is a country that offers high qualified human talent. This is why we decided to continue investing in the hiring of Costa Rican personnel. We are currently more than 5000 people who are part of this company”, said Alejandro Filloy, general manager of Amazon Costa Rica.

People interested in applying to these openings can do it through Amazon’s website, at www.amazon.jobs or via phone: 2562-9111. “Amazon offers competitive salaries and a broad benefit package, like medical insurance, private dental plan and free transportation. It also offers an extended maternity and paternity leave and a great work environment and growth opportunities”, highlighted Filloy.

With more than 5000 job positions, Amazon is one of the largest employers in the Services sector in Costa Rica.

The Minister of Foreign Trade, Alexander Mora, expressed his satisfaction by the news. “Costa Rica has a broad and positive trajectory as the home of operations of service companies that develop increasingly sophisticated processes in the country. Thanks to the stable political and economic climate, and the characteristics of our workers and companies, the country has been able to position itself as a leader in productive and social innovation, consolidating a very competitive productive ecosystem with the highest global standards. We are proud to know that Amazon continues to grow and consolidate its operations in the country and generating jobs for almost 7500 Costa Ricans, transferring knowledge and skills. From the Central Government we remain committed to increase our efforts to continue fostering the growth of our services sector, as a pillar of the Costa Rican economy.”

Jorge Sequeira, General Director of CINDE said: “Companies like Amazon have allowed Costa Rican IT and IT-enabled exports to reach US$4031 million in 2016. The growth of this company shows the solidity of its operations and the confidence in the Costa Rican human talent to grow its business.”

Amazon opened its first customer service center in Costa Rica in October 2008 and since then, has had a continuous growth of operations and functions in national soil. Since then, its associates have provided support to millions of customers and sellers in the USA, Spain, France, Italy, Mexico and Brazil.
