Stratus Video announces arrival in Costa Rica

NOVEMBER 4th 2015

Costa Ricans will do video and real time interpretation for patients in the United States

Stratus Video offers telecommuting positions for Costa Ricans, using technology that the company provides.
By 2017 the company plans to have 250 employees in its payroll.

San Jose, Costa Rica November 4th, 2015. Stratus Video, a US company in the services sector, announced today, together with the Ministry of Foreign Trade and the Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency (CINDE), that they chose Costa Rica to start operations in January 2016 with a modern service of real-time and video interpretation. Stratus Video expects to start operations with 120 bilingual people working from home from anywhere in the country, projecting to end the year with about 200, and reaching 250 interpreters by 2017.

One of a kind in Costa Rica
From Costa Rica, Stratus Video will provide video interpretation services, a system arose due to the need to improve communication between cultures, specifically for the medical industry in the United States. It is based on a technology that connects doctors with patients who do not speak English, and through an interpreter via video, that communication need is solved.

According to the company, the telecommuting model under which they operate, will enable employment opportunities for people across the country for those who meet the technical requirements.

The Minister of Foreign Trade, Alexander Mora, commended the company for its decision. "The announcement of the company Stratus reaffirms the validity and the competitiveness that Costa Rica has, as the best regional production platform for this type of services activities. The administration of President Solis is firmly committed to supporting and facilitating domestic and foreign investors, to accompany them in their processes. Thanks to the level of national human resources and the climate and conditions that characterize Costa Rica, the country continues to consolidate itself as the largest exporter of value-added services in Latin America, both in absolute and relative terms ".

Juan Diego Villegas, CEO of Stratus Video in Latin America, said "Costa Rica was chosen as the first international destination for the company to start in January 2016, because the country has incredibly talented bilingual people to provide this type of service. Costa Ricans are further characterized by having an excellent customer service which is very important in this sector, but critical to the medical industry. Additionally, the country has shown an improvement in communications and home Internet connectivity. "

Jorge Sequeira, Managing Director of CINDE said "Stratus Video opens up an opportunity for Costa Ricans seeking 100% telecommuting options. The company sets a valuable example of the opportunities that this method brings to Costa Rican workers. This company specializes in the interpretation and we are honored by their having chosen Costa Rica to install their operations. The services sector continues to grow and we are confident that more quality and well paid jobs and will be taken by the Costa Ricans. "

The profile sought by the company is Spanish-English bilingual personnel, preferably with experience in interpretation and management of medical vocabulary in both languages.

Applicants must have a private and quiet space in the house where you can install the computer and camera to interpret. The company said it has a wide variety of available schedules.

Those interested in working for Stratus Video must visit, attach their CV and complete the information requested on the page. After that, the recruitment team will contact them to continue with the process.
