• The Regional Center for Financial Services will generate new jobs, with a focus on continuous improvement, innovation and support to the economic and social development of the country.

San Jose, June 28th 2017. MSD will establish a Regional Center for Financial Services in Costa Rica to support the company's operations in Latin America.

Alexander Mora, Foreign Trade Minister commented, "Costa Rica has a proven track record as a favorable destination for investment, with competitive conditions and a healthy political-economic climate. Furthermore, in the last few years, due to global trends in innovation and efficiency, important efforts have been made to transition to a knowledge economy that will allow us to react satisfactorily to the needs of this technological disruption, and to go for higher links in global value chains. One of the results of this transition is the evolution of the services sector, which has progressively incorporated higher value added processes as well. A clear example is seen in the case of MSD and its new financial services center. With more than 45 years in the country, MSD continues to bet on Costa Rica, with a new operation that represents not only an opportunity for professional growth for our Costa Ricans; but is clear evidence of the country's ability to adapt to the market needs in order to provide sophisticated services worldwide. "

Susana Pardo, Executive Director for the Regional Center for Financial Services, said: With the implementation of the new Financial Operations Center, we will be increasing the number of MSD collaborators in Costa Rica, generating new direct jobs with a focus on continuous improvement, innovation and implementation of best practices, with which we will be supporting economic and Social development of the country ".

For Jorge Sequeira, Managing Director of CINDE, the establishment of this financial services regional center is an example of the business diversification that the company is having in the country, thanks to local human talent. "This new investment in the country adds much more value to the operation that MSD has in Costa Rica and continues to grow thanks to the excellent results obtained over the years. Companies like MSD have helped the services sector account for 45% of the country's total value of exports, a figure we are sure will continue to grow in the coming years. "

The company foresees the hiring of personnel in the short and medium term, thanks to this new operation. This will require personnel with knowledge in administration, accounting or finance and knowledge of a second language, whether it is English, Portuguese or French.
