MSD inaugurates its Regional Financial Services Center in Costa Rica

- Opening generates 200 direct jobs in administrative and human resources positions.
- The company´s to establish this center in Costa Rica demonstrates of the capacity of highly prepared and available talent in the country.

San Jose, November 29th, 2017. MSD, known as Merck in the United States and Canada, inaugurated today its Financial Services Center in Costa Rica. Through this Financial Services Center, MSD will support the company's Accounting, Planning and Financial Analysis activities in the Americas, from Canada to Chile. To date the center has generated 200 new jobs.

Luis Guillermo Solís Rivera, President of Costa Rica, said: "We celebrate that MSD opens its regional financial services center in our country. It fills us with pride when a company decides to expand its operations because it recognizes the capacity and human talent of the working population of Costa Rica; also, because it reaffirms our public policy´s will of attracting investments, which we strengthen in coordination with the productive sectors and business chambers, to promote conditions that guarantee our competitiveness”.

Susana Pardo, Executive Director of MSD Regional Financial Services Center, added: "The main reason why we chose Costa Rica as the location of the new MSD Financial Services Center is because of the highly trained human talent in the country. With this new operation we reaffirm our commitment to the country´s growth and development.”

Jhon Fonseca, Vice Minister of Foreign Trade, said that "worldwide, MSD is recognized for discovering, developing and offering of innovative and differentiated products and services that save and improve lives. More than 45 years ago, they have a presence in our country, but this year, they took another step in the consolidation of their local operations. Its new financial services center will generate quality employment for 200 Costa Rican employees, strengthening their skills and transferring specialized knowledge. We are delighted to know that our human talent continues to be a differentiating element in our country´s offer that strengthens our investment climate, making us capable of attracting and retaining investments from operations as innovative and sophisticated as this one. From the Central Government, we maintain our commitment to continue working and strengthening our conditions of competitiveness, to attract and retain investment, so that our economy can continue to strengthen and diversify; and our human talent can continue to learn and grow."
