Grupo Bimbo strengthens presence in Costa Rica with its new global services center

Bread making global leader trusted Costa Rican talent for an operation that will provide strategic services in English.

Invested US$2.5 million in new center that expects to host 200 employees before concluding 2017

San Jose, May 5th, 2016. Grupo Bimbo – the world's largest baking company inaugurated its new Global Service Center today, in the district of Tres Rios, La Union de Cartago, which will provide support to the English speaking US market.

The Costa Rican President, Luis Guillermo Solís; the Minister of Foreign Trade, Alexander Mora; CINDE’s managing director, Jorge Sequeira, and top executives of the company, participated this morning in the event that inaugurated the new location.

Grupo Bimbo’s GSC construction in Costa Rica concluded last April 1st and required an investment of more than US$ 2.5 million. Upon its entry into operation, it already has 90 employees and is expected to exceed 200 associates by the end of 2017.

The President, Luis Guillermo Solís Rivera expressed his satisfaction with this announcement and the effort that Costa Rica makes in strengthening its competitiveness to create jobs, thanks to the alliance with the productive and business sectors, which adds to concrete actions like maintaining stable electricity rates, a growing economy with zero inflation last year and stability in the exchange rate.

"Today we celebrate the opening of 200 new jobs, before the end of next year, for Costa Ricans in the areas of English, finance, accounting, and customer service. Grupo Bimbo has consolidated its operations in Costa Rica and that makes us happy because foreign investment that brings jobs and well- being has our commitment to further strengthen the competitiveness of our country, "said President Solis Rivera.

The Minister of Foreign Trade, Alexander Mora, was very pleased with the opening of the new Global Shared Services Center of Grupo Bimbo, which will create new quality employment opportunities for Costa Ricans. "We are committed as a government to strengthen the competitive advantages of our country, companies like Grupo Bimbo continue to rely on our workforce and achieve exporting quality services to the world," he said.

The Managing Director of CINDE, Jorge Sequeira said "Bimbo adds today one more operation to the services sector cluster of 139 companies in Costa Rica. From our country, we export 75 types of services in 10 different languages throughout the world. Human talent is making a difference and that is what we must continue to invest in, so that in the future more companies consolidate their operations in Costa Rica as Grupo Bimbo does today "

Tres Ríos: A strategic location

The company made the decision to install the GSSC in Tres Rios after a careful analysis. "It is a strategic location for our employees for its accessibility, proximity to their homes and the main higher education institutions in the country," said Jazmin Alvarado, Director of GSSC Grupo Bimbo in Costa Rica.
