Fiserv expands in Costa Rica and expects to hire 400 new employees

JUNE 9th 2016

Fiserv is one of the pioneering companies in the east of the capital in providing services to the financial services industry.
Company seeks personnel to fill positions in areas of software development, technical support and professional services, in the next 24 months.

San José, June 9th, 2016 – Fiserv, Inc. (NASDAQ: FISV), opened its new location in the east of the capital, in the Oficentro Terra Campus in Tres Rios, this morning. The company provides technology solutions for financial services, and is one of the pioneers in developing this kind of services in the east of San José.

Fiserv provides services to banks, savings banks, credit unions, investment management firms, leasing and finance companies, retailers, traders and government agencies, worldwide.

The opening ceremony was attended by Luis Guillermo Solis, President of Costa Rica; Alexander Mora, Minister of Foreign Trade; Marcelo Jenkins, Minister of Science and Technology; Vanessa Gibson, Director of Corporate Development and Investment Climate of CINDE; as well as senior executives and employees of Fiserv.

Fiserv operates in Costa Rica since January 2004, when it opened its first office in Zona Franca Metropolitana in Barreal de Heredia, and currently employs more than 550 people. In the next 24 months, Fiserv hopes to continue the growth of its operations in the country, opening more than 400 new jobs between its two locations.

President Luis Guillermo Solís expressed his satisfaction with this announcement. "When an international company with years of being in Costa Rica is expanding its operations, it is a sign of confidence in the stability of the country and its potential to generate new business alternatives. Foreign investment is the evidence that the competitiveness of Costa Rica remains, and can generate more quality jobs for Costa Ricans, as well as profitable businesses for entrepreneurs ".

"Our commitment is to hire top quality talent that allows us to develop and offer innovative technology solutions to our customers so that they, in turn, provide financial services according to market requirements," said Francisco Alba, Country Director of Fiserv Costa Rica. "With this expansion we intend, on the one hand, meet the services demand of our customers, and secondly, provide an attractive option for students and professionals who live near the new location. Having two offices with excellent location, we offer our partners the accessibility and flexibility that they currently require to live and work. "

Alexander Mora, Minister of Foreign Trade, received the news with great pleasure. "As part of the group of distinguished companies that have selected Costa Rica as their hub to establish their global development centers-a model to provide services with high value added, provided through digital technologies- for several years Fiserv has had operations in our country, which allows it to meet the needs of customers in Latin America and the United States with great success. We are very pleased to verify, with the opening of these new facilities of the company in the east of the capital, that Fiserv continues to find the attractive conditions to continue growing and placing their confidence in the Costa Rican, expanding the professional horizons of our youth. "

"This expansion shows us once again the confidence of world-class software companies  in the capacity, preparation and ingenuity of Costa Ricans. This encourages us to continue promoting public policy and investing state resources in the development of that talent, "said Marcelo Jenkins Coronas.

Jorge Sequeira, Managing Director of CINDE, said "Fiserv has evolved in the country and today offers more value-added services, contributing significantly within the sector's exports. For example, exports of high value added (telecommunications, computer and information services, plus other business services) in 2015 reached US $ 3.573 billion, representing 47% of total services exports.
