Theragenics to install medical manufacturing plant in Costa Rica
• Company will start recruiting in the coming months
• Vascular equipment will be produced by Costa Rican hands
Buford, GA, August 27 2014. Theragenics Corporation, a leader in the field of medical devices worldwide, announced that it will instal a plant in Costa Rica for the manufacturing of medical devices in the vascular area.
The company will make an initial recruitment of 50 Costa Rican professionals who will be responsible for carrying out the manufacturing processes of medical devices that will be used in worldwide.
The plant in Costa Rica will be located in El Coyol and will have an area of 1,600 square meters, and it is expected to be operational by the end of 2014.
The president, Luis Guillermo Solís, was pleased by the announcement made by the company and he ensures that the country once again demonstrates its competitiveness at an international level to produce high technology.

Theragenics’ CEO, Frank J. Tarallo, said “As we previously announced, we have refined our plans for moving certain portions of our Galt Medical operations offshore. These revisions result in maintaining a greater presence in the current Galt facility in order to better support our customers.”
By 2013 the Life Sciences sector in Costa Rica generated more than 17,200 high-quality jobs, while exports of medical and precision equipment were over U.S. $ 1,547 million.
The Minister of Foreign Trade of Costa Rica, Alexander Mora, said the decision by Theragenics to invest in the country and develop highly sophisticated jobs, highlight the credibility of the Costa Rican human talent.
